This is an invitation to interested vendors (“Respondents”) to submit Quotes (“Responses”) to OCAD University (“OCAD U”) to conduct a feasibility study for a new Art Service that may be established at OCAD University.
The University would like to conduct a feasibility study to determine if it can generate a positive revenue stream by establishing a new centralized Art Service to manage art projects for outside clients. The study would include a market analysis to determine outside demand, recommend a structure for this new business unit and forecast revenues and expenses over a five to ten year period. In addition, we would require some comparative research into other universities or colleges in North America that might also offer this type of service, to determine best practices etc.
The feasibility study should answer the following questions:
a) Would a permanent new in-house art service be profitable for OCAD University?
b) What is the external need/demand for an OCAD University art service?
c) What services should be offered? E.g. curation of collections or exhibitions, sale of individual works of art and design, etc.?
d) What resources are needed to launch and maintain an art service?
e) Who would be the clients of this service?
f) Whose works should be represented (students, alumni, faculty?)
g) How to market the service and secure clients?
h) How to create and maintain an inventory of available works?
i) What are the regulatory requirements and industry best practices?
j) How should the administration and reporting structure look?
l) What other players are in the same market in greater Toronto?
m) What other partners would we need, e.g. framers, art movers and installers, case or plinth fabricators, graphic designers?
