Iain Moggach is an arts consultant, theatre director and producer, and former Artistic and Executive Director of Theatre by the Bay, based in Barrie, Ontario. With over a decade of experience in arts leadership, he specializes in strategic planning, organizational development, and community-engaged cultural programming. During his tenure at Theatre by the Bay, Iain led a significant period of growth and transformation. He increased the organization’s operating capacity by more than 50%, and developed a range of artistic and training initiatives, including the Barrie Theatre Lab, the Indie Producer Co-op, and the Simcoe County Theatre Festival. His work has consistently focused on strengthening the relationship between arts organizations and the communities they serve. This includes expanding opportunities for emerging artists and improving access for underrepresented groups; under his leadership, Theatre by the Bay increased representation of artists from marginalized communities from approximately 7% to over 19%. As a consultant, Iain supports arts organizations and cultural stakeholders across Ontario in areas including governance, strategic planning, audience development, and revenue generation. His approach combines artistic vision with practical, operational insight, drawing on extensive experience leading both the creative and administrative sides of an organization. In addition to his consulting work, Iain is an experienced educator and mentor. He is the lead instructor of the Indie Producer Co-op and has developed and delivered training programs for emerging artists and arts administrators across Canada. His practice is grounded in the belief that strong arts organizations are built through clarity of purpose, responsive leadership, and meaningful connection to community.
