The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (the Municipality) is dedicated to developing a public art program (Public Art Wood Buffalo) that celebrates the regions history, culture and people while enhancing the visual and aesthetic impact of the region. Building on the existing Municipal Public Art Policy and other relevant planning documents, the Municipality seeks to develop a comprehensive Regional Public Art Plan (Public Art Plan) that will define the region’s vision for public art for the next five (5) to ten (10) years.
Working collaboratively with the Council-appointed Public Art Committee and Municipal Administration, the development of the Public Art Plan will involve extensive engagement with the internal departments, key stakeholders and the general public. The resulting document will prioritize future projects and themes in alignment with strategic Municipal priorities, as well as provide a framework for administering projects in accordance with the previously adopted Public Art Policy and other guiding documents.
