Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay: Evaluation of Cultural Asset Mapping and Database project

The Culture Alliance, a joint culture committee serving Beausoleil First Nation, the Towns of Midland and Penetanguishene, and the Townships of Tay and Tiny, is seeking proposals to evaluate their Cultural Asset Mapping and Database project. https://www.culturealliance.ca/culturalassets
The Project – With a Seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Culture Alliance has been working on identifying and preserving cultural assets in the Heart of Georgian Bay. While the project originally included hosting Community Cultural Celebration days where people could gather, talk, share and learn, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted that the project be moved completely online.
The online version of the project required that area residents add a pin or point on the map to identify a cultural asset. This information was then vetted before it became visible on the map. The project has also pivoted to include video recordings of community members with the videos being linked to points on the map.
This is a one-time evaluation process.
Cultural Assets are defined as Cultural Enterprise, Cultural Facilities and Spaces, Community Cultural Organizations, Natural Heritage sites and groups, festivals and events, and individual artists, artisans, musician, writers, and performers.
