Alliance for a Grand Community: Review and Update of Policies and Procedures

Dedicated to strengthening the impact of the arts and culture sector, the AGC is an unincorporated “alliance” of community arts leaders and practitioners representing the largest professional arts organization in the Region of Waterloo, including: Cambridge Art Galleries (Idea Exchange), Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, Drayton Entertainment, Grand Philharmonic Choir, Kitchener Public Library, Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Region of Waterloo Public Library, Waterloo Public Library, and Waterloo Region Museums. Former members include TheMuseum and the Centre in the Square. To date, the Alliance has primarily worked to advocate for adequate and sustainable public funding within the sector, speak to the value and importance of arts and cultural experiences in society, share best practices, and provide industry networking opportunities, collaboration, and support. With a long-standing history in the Region, the AGC has worked to deal with issues that are outside the scope of a single arts organization, working collaboratively to find solutions. The Alliance currently employs a contract administrative assistant to support meeting operations as needed.

The Alliance for a Grand Community (AGC) is seeking an Arts Consultant to help reshape its purpose, structure, and membership qualifying criteria in order to best support arts organizations throughout the Region of Waterloo in a post-COVID arts landscape. Recommendations should be based on examining established provincial, national, and international best practices. The Arts Consultant shall identify gaps in current processes pertaining to equity, diversity and inclusion, and a strategy for remediation, with the end goal of creating a more vibrant Alliance that is truly representative of the community it serves.

The term of this contract is to last from September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 without potential for renewal upon completion.
