Lundholm Associates is a museum planning consultancy oriented to projects in the cultural sector including museums, libraries, archives, and galleries. For over forty years, the firm has combined design work with consultancy on planning and programming projects. Feasibility studies, functional programs, and building assessments comprise a significant portion of the work. Through these projects, the practice has developed a comprehensive knowledge base on design criteria for museum, archive, library, and collection facilities. Michael Lundholm is the principal of the firm and hands-on with every project. It remains a small firm intentionally. This results in a high level of skill, experience, and diligence for every project undertaken. Lundholm has extensive experience developing state of the art programming techniques and feasibility studies for many of the country’s most significant cultural institutions. Although no longer offering architectural services, the practice remains active in collection storage and exhibition design, and participates in larger multi-disciplinary teams offering full professional services. Established relationships with colleagues in the related fields of management consulting, market analysis, conservation science, heritage architecture, and historical research, as well as the conventional architectural and engineering disciplines, enable the assembly of comprehensive teams for planning and design projects.
