Biographical Info

A seasoned fundraiser with 35 years of professional experience, Leslie Thompson has planned, created and executed various successful projects and campaigns for a variety of arts organizations. In the course of her duties she has guided a number of non profits through the strategic planning process, recommended new directions based upon audits of financial and human resources, created programs and signature events, breathed new life into existing campaigns, recruited and coached volunteers. For select clients she has researched, recommended and implemented new database systems and assisted in the recruitment of staff. She has worked collaboratively in team environments with other consultants and organizational coalitions and specializes in designing and implementing surveys of donors, members and audiences. Leslie studied Performing Arts Management at Confederation College and has worked on staff with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, Roy Thomson Hall, The Association of Canadian Orchestras, the Vancouver Symphony, Vancouver East Cultural Centre and Ballet BC. Leslie has taught fundraising classes at the Arts & Entertainment program at Capilano University and non profit management at Mount Royal University, provides extensive workshops on a variety of topics, and has actively served on boards, volunteered for neighbourhood groups and chaired committees for her professional associations. She is a long standing member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves on the board of ACCA.
