Biographical Info

Founded in 2018, The Arts Firm is a collection of experts with deep expertise in producing and managing within the Canadian arts sector. We work with clients on consulting projects, Sounding Board artist or career development, and online learning (live cohort and/or self-directed) through ArtsBoost. Clients include: the Screen Composers Guild of Canada, Indigenous Performing Arts Association, Choral Canada, Orchestras Canada (and NASO partners), The Bruneau Centre, Mulgrave Road Theatre, Esprit Orchestra and others. I am known for strategic integration of new ideas and technology, creating collaborative partnerships and teams that excel, and developing organizations with good governance, sound strategy and sustainable finances. Following a 20 year career as chief executive of Canadian symphony orchestras (and thanks to a Canada Council for the Arts John Hobday Award) I shifted to supporting content creation and the creative industries to co-produce "GreenRights" by Anhinga Films, as consultant for "The Great Human Odyssey" and "Equus" by Handful of Films, and to manage Screen Nova Scotia's ambitious transition from member organization to provincial film commission. I have national non-profit board experience and have represented clients at international markets and events and look forward to continuing to work with interesting people, solving challenging problems, and building creative opportunities.
